Rainbow's End on Matlacha

Welcome to Matlacha!

Matlacha (pronounced Mat-la-shay) is a quaint island that is a historic fishing village and artist community. It is just a short walk to the main street where unique shops, art galleries and restaurants await you.

The island is an angler's paradise - home of the "world's fishingest bridge". You are almost guaranteed a varied catch whether fishing from the bridge, our back yard or a boat. Many types of boat rentals for fishing trips can be arranged. Nearby islands include Cabbage Key (said to be the inspiration for Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise"), the uninhabited Cayo Costa and many others.

The area teems with natural wildlife - watch the ospreys fly by, pelicans dive and dolphins swim while fishing from the house's dock.

Matlacha is just 30 minutes from Fort Myers and is also the gateway to Pine Island. There is no better location for a waterfront vacation surrounded by the unspoiled beauty of Florida's natural tropical scenery and wildlife.
